Sorenson Institute of Political Leadership, University of VA, Class of 2003 Master's of Education in Developmental Reading, Virginia State University 1980 Bachelor's of Arts in Education majoring in English and the Social Sciences (primarily History and Psychology), National College of Education (now National-Lewis University) 1977 Associate of Arts in PreSchool Education, Kendall College 1974

Experience

I currently teach English as a Second Language to students primarily in South Korea via the internet and with a company called Homeschool Friend. I recently finished a 17 year homeschooling career--both of my sons are high school graduates, Eagle Scouts, Boys State of VA alumni and in higher education. Prior to home educating I spent two years in Christian Education as a Reading Specialist, two years with the Department of Defense, Quartermaster School, Ft. Lee, VA as an Education Specialist, and nine and one-half years in the public classroom in a variety of positions... 5th grade self-contained, 5th-8th grades English, and 6th-9th grades Title IX Reading Specialist. Tutoring is a natural extension of my almost three decades of working with and teaching young people. I very much like using the internet as I do with my Korean students and currently have access to a program that promises to be very flexible where the student and I could meet via the computer. It would save both of us gas and time, plus grant us access to a myriad number of resources.
